Mid-Coast Children's Services Family Support and Counseling
Mid-Coast Children's Services (MCCS) has been serving the children and families of Knox County and neighboring communities for over twenty years. In July 2005, MCCS merged with Waldo County Preschool & Family Services (now known as Broadreach Family & Community Services). MCCS provides a wide range of educational and support services to families with young children.
The Mid-Coast Children's Services Family Support and Counseling Program offers home-based support and counseling to families who need extra help to deal with challenging behaviors of their young children. Services begin with a comprehensive assessment that looks at the child's health and developmental histories, how the child interacts with family and at preschool/child care, and parents' and teachers' concerns. A diagnosis may be provided that will lead to effective treatment goals. The family then works with a clinical social worker to strengthen the child's social-emotional development and/or reduce challenging behaviors. The work may include play therapy, parent consultation, family counseling, and consultation to the child's preschool or child care.
Mid-Coast Children's Services is a program of Broadreach Family & Community Services. Services are supported, in part, by funding from the Maine Department of Health and Human Services. MCCS is grateful to the individuals, businesses and foundations whose support helps to provide crucial services for children and families.
