Broadreach works in collaboration
with many community partners to implement programs and services
that improve conditions for the children and families of our
region.
Students and
Parents in Cooperative Education (SPICE)
SPICE
meets the needs of families who live in one of the eleven towns
of MSAD 3, have an educational, parenting & child development
goal, and have a child eight years old or younger. SPICE is
FREE to eligible families.
SPICE is dedicated
to increasing literacy skills in our clients by improving an
individual's ability to read, write, and speak in English, compute,
and solve problems, at levels of proficiency necessary to function
on the job, in the family, and in society. SPICE is a
collaborative project of Maine School Administrative District
3 and Broadreach Family & Community Services. The SPICE
Program receives funding support from Evenstart and the Maine
Department of Education.
SPICE provides families
with:
- the opportunity to earn a high school diploma or GED at
home;
- one on one tutoring at home;
- opportunities to increase job skills and career potential;
- support for parents and children in both home and school
settings;
- parent training to help children succeed in school;
- parent support and resources to address children’s behavioral
issues;
- age-appropriate books during home visits; and
- assistance in developing good schoolwork and homework skills.
